My " Matchbox " type collection

I always look at these models as simple toys . My collection was " parked " in big boxes , carefully wrapped inside plastic boxes . Sometime ago I decide to see wath I had gathered all these years . My collection started 30 years ago with some of my old Matchbox toys , almost 50 years old and a plastic bag full of models , a gift from a friend . After 6 months of work I have finished , after chose and modify the vitrines , confirm the database . I had more than 1000 models , but in the end just 500 plus Opel models with a good selection of Matchbox , Siku , Schuco , etc . You can see all the collection at http://www.joaquimjaneiro.pt/64scalecol ... bution.htm , as usual and here I will show by model or maker .

The first Opel model made by Matchbox in this scale . Nice casting , gold body white interior and one of the rarest toys ever made , the " sea foam green " version .

Hi Joaquim,

very impressive! I wish I could have the same place for my collection when I take a look at the photo of the room on your page.

That reminds me of the collection of my Matchbox-Models which started nearly 40 years ago. I own them since today - all well stored in a huge box...

Greetings Alex

Hi Alex
This kind of models are a bit undervalued by collectors , at least I think so .

The Opel Kadett / Vauxhall Astra was the second Opel made by Matchbox . I have a good selection but mainly without box.

Opel Calibra V6 DTM 1994 and Vectra A - Matchbox

The Calibra is a nice and well done toy . Just a handfull of different liveries , orange Calibra , France 98 , Coca Cola , Chalenge and Sidney 2000 . The white / yellow Opel livery prototype didn't reach production , but it was very nice .

The Vectra A , excellent model but just 2 colors , red or green .

The Opel Frontera and " brothers "

The Opel and Vauxhall Frontera SW started life as an Isuzu Rodeo , while the Frontera Sport was Isuzu / Mu / Amigo . Talking about the Matchbox models , the small Mu / Amigo was released as an Isuzu and unfortunately never as Opel / Vauxhall , as this was one excellent model . The Frontera / Rodeo even if it isn't a bad model with that front bar and the rack lugage in the hood are too " toyish " to be apreciated by a collector . I have lots of Frontera / Rodeo models , I thought I had all , but yesterday I found on Ebay , where else , a livery that I didn't have in my collection . The Amigo was made only in 5 versions , at least I know only 5 !
