Opel in Portugal - Circuits and Hillclimb

As portuguese and Opel enthusiast this is a natural subject . However I would like to know if you have any interest watching our cars .
In Portugal Opel in racing start in the 60's with Mario Moreira Leite who runs a 2.5 L Kapitan at least in Vila do Conde Circuit . In the 70's Opel was one of the leading makers with the Ascona A and Kadett C in the rallyes and Commodore A , B and Manta A on the circuits and hillclimb with lots of wins . The 80's and 90's Kadett and Astra are the Opel models used with some succes . Today only Joaquim Santos ( do you remember the tragic accident in Sintra with a Ford RS 200 ) with an OPC Astra in the Rallycross runs with an Opel with some succes . I will start with 1993 a golden year . Please let me know if you like this theme . Regards

1993 was a golden year for Opel ! 1st and 2nd in the championship when we have only 2 cars , nobody can ask for more !!!

Ni Amorim 1993 Champion . Later he was on the 1995 DTM with Opel Team Joest

would be interesting to watch Motorsports with Opel in other countries...

Year 1972 , Opel with Gomes Pereira start the circuit and hillclimb championship envolvement . The Gr 1 Gomes Pereira will use the new Commodore A GSE , almost standard . Fight with full Gr1 BMW and Alfa Romeus was an hard task but he manage a couple of good places .

For the Gr2 , Gomes Pereira with the Manta Steinmetz "mini" Gr2 , only 145 Hp , made good races against the Alfa Romeu , etc , but the car hadn't enough power to win .
